Bose Home Theater

I need to sell a brand new Bose home theater system in SEATTLE. where can i sell it? i have the receipt.?

PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST EBAY, I HATE THEM. PLUS I WANT TO SELL LOCALLY SO THAT SOMEONE CAN LOOK AT EVERYTHING B4 THEY BUY AND I CAN GET PAYMENT QUICKLY. I AM THINKING OF PAWNSHOPS BUT DONT KNOW WHO WOULD BUY IT.
I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THIS $5000.00 SYSTEM FOR SOMEONE FOR CHRISTMAS BUT WE BROKE UP AND NOW I'M STUCK IT HAS NEVER EVEN BEEN OUT OF THE BOX AND THE FACTORY SEALS ARE STILL IN PLACE.

Answer 1:

Place a ad on www.craigslist.com. People will email you with offers and you can do meet up for cash payment. Good luck!

Answer 2:

man, how u gon spend that much on....nevermind.

try craigslist.com

ill take it off your hands for $200 tho....cash...

Answer 3:

Have you had it more than 2 weeks or so? DId you even try to return it. You may be able to return it for in store credit. I am sorry you hate EBay. It may be your best bet. Otherwise as stated above try 'craigslist'. You could put an add in a local paper.
Or give it to someone you won't stop loving (or won't stop loving you) like a child or parent. Good luck.

Bose home theater or mirage speakers with marantz preamp ??

What models are you reffering to...or are you asking for a "comparison" in general, between Bose and Mirage.
And what "Marantz pre-amp" are you talking about.

Answer 1:

The Mirage with the Marantz. For the price of the Bose, you can even upgrade the speakers.

Bose is ok, if you don't mind, overpriced, substandard stuff. The quality of the speakers is non-existent, especially when compared to actual drivers in the mirage speakers.

Answer 2:

I've posted this before, but here ya go.

As Somebody who has installed well over a hundred HT systems and I keep up to date on alot of Audio Visual forums, I can tell you that Bose is pretty much some of the WORST speakers out there. If you do a simple search on Bose in any Audio forum and you will see that Bose is disliked pretty much by every single one of them.

I suggest you check out AVSForum.com or SoundandVisionmag.com heck do a simple search on any forum and you will see how bad these speakers are.

Here is the main problem. Physics dictates that a drivers (speaker) size can achieve a certain frequency response. The human ear can hear pretty much anything between 20Hz (low bass) and 20kHz (high frequencies). Or think of it as a simple 100 points on the hearing scale.

Now because of Physics, those tiny cubes pretty much have a frequency curve of 95Hz to 13kHz (and 95Hz is being very, very generous) and their "Bass Module" which cannot be called a subwoofer, because to be called a subwoofer it has to achieve a low frequency response of at least 35hz or lower. So the Bose Bass Module has a frequency response of 47Hz-80Hz (normal crossover point). So if we crunch the numbers we see that Bose is missing 20Hz-47Hz (27 points on 100 point scale). It is also missing 80Hz-95Hz (15 more points) and is missing the upper frequency of 13kHz-20kHz (7 more points on the frequency curve. So if we add those missing points it comes out to missing 49 points on the 100 point frequency curve. You are essentially missing almost half of what you can hear.

So how come Bose cubes sound so good in stores? Aha this is a good question. What Bose does is they find music and demo movie scenes that basically hit upon every frequency that the Bose can handle. If you bring in your own music or movies, you will find that it sounds pretty bad.

You will also find those tiny little Bose setups, where the speakers are hanging on branched arms and completely surround you. There is a reason for this. They are very close to you and don't have that much space they need to fill. With speakers all around you at a distance of four feet or less, the cubes don't have to fill that much space, because in a normal listening room, those cubes have to be cranked pretty loud and those tiny drivers will now introduce distortion into the mix.

Bose is all about marketing and a simple search in any audio video forum will confirm this.

Here are some great links.

and the most techincal data confirming the frequency response of the Bose speaker system.

Bose is the best.

Will my bose home theater play blue ray DVD format?

Simple answer is no.

Blu-Ray discs are not DVD's, even though they look the same and use a similar format to read and write the data. The Blu-Ray discs only play in Blu-Ray players and Play Station 3. The Blu-Ray players will however play your regular DVD's.

Answer 1:

No, it will not. You can get a blu ray player and hook it up to play through your bose audio system, however.

I was palnning to take home(india) a Bose Home Theater system?

so guys can i pay the customs in USA or do i have to pay it in india ?
pls help me guys

Answer 1:

You'll have to pay the customs in India - that's when you'd go through immigration/customs. And the fee is paid to India - not to the US.

Of course, you could simply unpack the speakers, and claim they aren't new and so, aren't subject to customs anyways. My foreign friends would do this with laptops all the time.
